Our Best Answer - What is the difference between an official and unofficial transcript?
Unofficial and Official Transcripts
Official Transcript
Official Transcripts display the entire academic history of a student of their time while enrolled at UC Santa Barbara, including all UC courses and grades, any/all degrees conferred, honors, course notations and transferred units. They are printed on tamper resistant security paper with the Registrar's signature.
Unofficial Transcript
Unofficial Transcripts display the entire academic history of a student of their time while enrolled at UC Santa Barbara. However, rather than being printed when requested, students can view their unofficial transcript anytime through GOLD. The student can also print the unofficial transcript anytime, provided the web browser they are using supports a printing function. It does not cost anything to print an unofficial transcript. If the student would like to use the unofficial transcript for official purposes, please verify with the receiving party/institution that an unofficial transcript is an acceptable format (because usually, it is insufficient).
For more information on ordering transcripts, please visit the Office of the Registrar's webpage.
