Our Best Answer - What is the statement of purpose?
Within the graduate admissions process, we require two statements. A statement of purpose and a personal statement.
Your statement of purpose is a short essay outlining your reasons for undertaking a graduate program, your particular area of specialization within the major field, your past academic work, and your plans for future occupation or profession. You may also include any additional information that may assist the selection committee in evaluating your preparation and aptitude for graduate study at UC Santa Barbara.
The statement of purpose is an important part of your UC graduate school application. Refer to the University of California Graduate Admissions website for more information.
