Our Best Answer - What is your school mascot?
School Mascot
UC Santa Barbara's official mascot is Gaucho Ole! Be sure to say "hi!" to Ole when you see him on campus! Gauchos were the equivalent of the North American "cowboy"--nomadic horsemen from the 18th and 19th centuries originally from the fertile lowlands of South America, particularly Argentina and Uruguay. Traditionally, gauchos were symbols of pride and strength.
