Our Best Answer - Can the application fee be waived?

Application Fee Waivers

Undergraduate Students

Fee waivers are available to students who meet eligibility guidelines based on household size and family income. When you apply online, you may request a review for a fee waiver in the "submit" tab of the UC application. If you do not meet the criteria for a fee waiver, you will be asked to pay by credit card or you may select "Mail" as a payment option and a bill for the application fee(s) will be available to print and mail in.

The fee waiver can be used to apply to up to four UC campuses. If you wish to apply to more than four campuses, you must pay the $70 fee for each additional campus.

If you have a paper fee waiver but want to apply online, choose "Mail" from the selection of payment options. Download the invoice and return it with the completed and signed fee waiver form. Only one fee waiver can be used, the UC fee waiver OR an external fee waiver.

Graduate Students

A limited number of fee waivers are available for qualified U.S. citizens and permanent residents who demonstrate financial need. McNair Scholars and Project 1000 applicants are among those eligible. Fee waivers are not available to international applicants.

You may apply for a fee waiver within the online application.  Within your application click on the Payment Information tab and scroll-down to the fee waiver information.
